Alkalinity of blood.

 

The kidneys monitor and control the acidity or "acid-base" (pH) balance of the blood. If the blood is too acidic, the kidney makes bicarbonate to restore the bloods pH balance. If the blood is too alkaline, then the kidney excretes bicarbonate into the urine to restore the balance.

Balance (buffer) by using seaweed, eating more raw food or other alkaline-type foods. A diet rich in alkalinising plant foods has been shown to help preserve muscle mass in older men and women. Another cause of acidity in the body is intense exercise.

The use of sodium bicarbonate.

Our body pH is very important because pH controls the speed of our body's biochemical reactions. It does this by controlling the speed of enzyme activity as well as the speed that electricity moves through our body and effecting voltage. The higher (more alkaline) the pH of a substance or solution, the more electrical resistance that substance or solution holds. Therefore, electricity travels slower with higher ph. If we say something has an acid pH, we are saying it is hot and fast.  Alkaline pH on the other hand, biochemically speaking, is slow and cool. Proteins can be modified both in vivo and in vitro by increases in acidity. In fact pH is the regulatory authority that controls most cellular processes. The pH balance of the human bloodstream is recognized by medical physiology texts as one of the most important biochemical balances in all of human body chemistry. pH is the acronym for "Potential Hydrogen". Lower numbers indicate more acidity with less potential for absorbing hydrogen ions.      

The IMVA recommends alkaline foods and sodium bicarbonate so that the pH of the blood remains high, which in turn means that the blood is capable of carrying more oxygen. Patients receiving sodium bicarbonate achieved urine pHs of 6.5 as opposed to 5.6 with those receiving sodium chloride. This alkalinisation is theorized to have a protective effect against the formation of free-radicals that may cause nephropathy.  Even genes directly experience external ph. pH differentially regulates a large number of proteins. Increased oxidative stress, which correlates almost exponentially with ph changes into the acidic, is especially dangerous to the mitochondria, which suffer the greatest under oxidative duress.
Mitochondria are the power plants of the cell, where a person's energy is created.

The Nobel laureate Thomas D. Watson, PhD, co=discoverer of DNA's molecular structure, has called into question the search for cancer treatments based on genetic abnormalities and has urged his fellow scientists to turn toward a study of metabolism. Studying altered metabolic pathways,  "could lead to a new approach in cancer treatments."
Unequivocally stating that cancer is a disease of injured mitochondria and its resulting compensatory fermentation and that this causes the genome to degrade in unpredictable ways. "All hallmarks of cancer including the Warburg effect can be linked to impaired respiration and energy metabolism." These are "downstream effects of damaged mitochondrial function."

The natural way to keep the blood lightly alkaline is the use of seaweed. Normally a few gram of dried kelp a day will do the job. Most however is baking soda or calcium bi carbonate. The advantage of using kelp is that in addition to enhance the alkalinity it is rich in Iodine, minerals and trace elements, able to detox and remove toxic substance of the body as well.

I am still learning new things about baking soda and why it is the stellar medicine it is. I am trying to take more myself to reverse the process of ageing that coincides with increasing bicarbonate deficiency. One would think that because it is used so frequently in emergency room and intensive care wards more people and health professionals would get it. But like iodine there is a phobia against it especially when it is recommended as a prime chemo agent against cancer.

Bottom line, as the pH rises, so does cellular voltage as well as cellular oxygen levels because one of the great secrets of life is found on this axis of O2, CO2, pH and cell voltage. We increase cell voltage when we take sodium bicarbonate.

It's amazing but it's true - when we take simple baking soda we raise the energy and performance level of cellular activity. This is good for the cells and helps them shake off infections and cancer.

Baking soda has long been known as an excellent medicine for the kidneys, and dialysis units use bicarbonate regularly but they, like everyone else, don't want to brag about it. The medical effects of sodium bicarbonate administration make it obvious that carbon dioxide is a nutrient with an instant and positive effect and this has been known for a long time.
